The Excretory System
by Patrick Bylis and Augustine Caoile
The excretory system is just that: it excretes the excess. It is a biological system that removes wasteful and unnecessary materials in order to maintain homeostasis and keep an organism healthy. Throughout most organisms, tissues and organs create metabolic waste that must be removed by the excretory system, making it vital to the organism’s survival and health. If these toxic wastes are left within an organism, more often than not, it can damage and even kill the organism. The excretory system also removes any excess water from an organism, making it an indicator of whether or not the organism has had enough water in its system. In larger organisms, such as mammals, the excretory system involves different organs and parts, whereas other organisms lack distinct excretory systems. The process by which waste is removed by which the excretory system and the actual waste also differs depending on the organism. This website will inform you as to what is different and what is the same about the way in which organisms excrete; check it out!
